The inspiration for this design came from the original layout of the building, which was a 2-bedroom apartment. The client, a family of 4, requested a 3-bedroom layout with plenty of storage. To accommodate their needs, the design team planned an open kitchen layout that can be enclosed during cooking or family time.
The living and dining space features a mixture of Maxalto bar chairs, B&B Italia Husk, and De Castelli furnishings, providing a classic yet contemporary atmosphere. The stone flooring perimeter mimics the ceiling, creating distinct living and dining zones.
In the master bedroom, the focus is on creating a relaxing environment. Only a B&O sound bar is exposed for soothing music and movie viewing. Contradi and Maxalto bedside lamps and tables are carefully selected to enhance the experience. The bathroom design includes a walk-through shower into a Japanese-style bathtub, and Italian Gessi sanitary ware adds an extra touch of wellness.
To promote sibling bonding, the design includes a shared space that can be enclosed with movable partitions for privacy as the children grow older. Casalis Slumber pouffes matching Magis Rocky horse and Andrew Martin wall coverings create a playful yet meaningful environment for the siblings.
The Mountain Court Apartment also features innovative lighting design. The low ceiling inherited from the building's original layout is transformed into a double-curve cove ceiling, creating a natural blend of lighting throughout the space. FLOS ICT1 table lamps provide the perfect reading light.
The realization of this design involved custom-making a UK import material called Forresso for the dining table, with matching backing for the display shelf. The result is a unique and visually striking centerpiece for the dining area.
Located in Homantin, Hong Kong, the Mountain Court Apartment took 6 months to complete. The design team faced challenges in completing the construction within budget and on time, but their dedication and creativity paid off.
The Mountain Court Apartment is a testament to the power of open plan living. By removing walls and doors, the design promotes the flow of air and natural light, creating a spacious and inviting atmosphere.
